Education & Development Blog

If your teen is planning to go to college, then they will likely need to take the ACT. While many people find this test to be stressful to take, most colleges look to SAT or ACT scores to decide if they want to have a teen attend their program. If your teen has not yet taken the ACT or if they're struggling with it, they may benefit from hiring a tutor. Here are some signs that your teen may need an ACT test prep tutor:

1. They're Not Happy with Their ACT Test Score

If they've already taken the ACT but did not get a great score, it may be making them feel unprepared for college entrances. The good news is the can continue to prepare and take the ACT again in the future. A tutor may be able to help them have more success with the test so that they're able to raise their score.

2. They're Avoiding Preparing for the Test

If you have a teen who is just not into the test at all and you're finding that they're not studying, this is a bad sign. Going into the test unprepared can result in a low score. Hiring an ACT prep tutor can help your teen prepare and better understand what to expect when they show up to take the test.

3. They Usually Get Stress When Taking Standardized Tests

Some students are not good at taking standardized tests because of their upset and anxiety. Your teen may worry that their anxiety will take over and not allow them to do well. But, they can prepare and learn how to manage their test-taking anxiety. A tutor can help them learn how to take the test better and how to calm their nerves on test day. This may help them get a better score and do better overall.

4. They Don't Study Well Without Direction

Some people need more direction when studying and preparing for exams. Your teen may need one-on-one attention to spend the time and effort on studying and that's okay. An ACT proper tutor can work with your teen one-on-one so that they spend the time needed to prepare.

If any of the above is true, it may be time to hire an ACT prep tutor for your teen. They can do well on the ACT and they can feel much more prepared for the exam by working with a tutor.
